For the men glaring in confusion at last week’s spring fashion post, we didn’t forget about you! Menswear Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Week brought us a lot of inspiration from the latest designer runway collections and the streets. The street style was vibrant as ever, with the stylish civilians and visitors of London, Paris and Milan pulling out lively hues, childhood-inspired pieces and a few traditional staples.
Plucked from the runways and some of our favorite fashion influences, here are the most popular men’s fashions for this spring:
Wider Collared Shirts
Over the past few seasons we’ve started to see shapes and silhouettes become looser and let restrictive in their fitting, a far cry from the skin tight jeans and high-rise T-shirts that have dominated menswear for some time now. When it comes to shirting, the wide collar, or Cuban collar to some, may be the next venture into menswear.
Wide Leg Trousers
The wide leg trouser has become somewhat of a staple in men’s wardrobes over the last few seasons. With it’s relaxed fit and smart look the wide leg trousers is a spring/summer trend to watch out for! With their ability to be smartened up with a formal shirt or dressed down with simple tee and trainers, the wide leg trousers is certainly at the top of our lists next season.
The sports lux trend has been round for some time now, and it isn’t going away any time soon. Its practicality and comfort is what makes this trend so appealing. You can interpret sports lux however you want; team a smart shirt with a pair of joggers and a formal shoe, or, a sports jacket with a pair of chinos and trainers, it’s completely up to you how you go about it!
Slogan T-shirts have become something of a staple amongst fashion followers alike. With big designers producing their own version of this latest fashion trend – however, you don’t need to be paying top prices for something that you can get at an extremely affordable price! The Slogan tee looks great tucked in to a pair of trousers and then teamed with a casual trainer.
Nothing beats a great tonal look as they make dressing just that little bit easier. We all know the classic all-black tonal look as it’s been championed by so many people over the years, but tackle this ss17 trend with something a little different.
Try going for an all grey or an all navy tonal look as their great colours for both smart and casual looks. Try wearing a navy suit with a navy T-shirt, but keep the T-shirt in a contrasting tone to the suit. This adds a point of difference to your look without it being too out there.
So, let’s re-cap:
- Wide collar shirts, great for a more statement look.
- Wide leg trousers offer a different shape to your outfit.
- Sports luxe isn’t going anywhere, team a smart shirt with joggers for an abstract look.
- Printed T-shirts work perfectly for a causal outfit.
- Tonal outfits are perfect for both smart and casual looks, but vary up your shades.
